local American Indians as well as the scientific community.
Spirit Cave Mummy: The oldest human mummy
found in North America. Discovered in 1940 in Spirit Cave,
east of Fallon by the husband-and-wife archaeological team
of Sydney and Georgia Wheeler, were the remains of two people
wrapped in tulle matting.
Pleistocene Nevada Exhibit: include a Columbian
Mammoth skeleton that lived in Nevada over 15,000 years ago.
Plan on spending about two hours exploring the museum. Nearby

Open Wednesday - Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. The museum
is closed Sunday - Tuesday. Admission is free on Nevada day
each year. There is a moderate charge for adults and the museum
is free for 17 years old and under every day.
