| The Little
Church of the West on Las Vegas Boulevard is on the national
register of historical places. The church is the oldest existing
structure on the Las Vegas Strip. With
it's Las Vegas location the wedding chapel has had it's share
of celebrity marriages. Famous people tying the knot at the
church include Betty Grable & Harry James (the first celebrity
wedding in 1943) to Zsa Zsa Gabor & George Sanders, Judy
Garland, Mickey Rooneyand Dudley Moore. The
chapel looks much the same today as when it was first built
in 1942. You don't have to be a big shot to get married in
the little church all you need is a wedding licence and a
reservation. Prices start at just $199.00 and go up form there.
The chapel was originally built along
with the Last Frontier Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, just
north of Spring Mountain Road. The chapel was moved from its
location on the north side of the hotel to the south side
in 1954. In 1979, the chapel was moved onto the grounds of
the Hacienda Hotel to accommodate the building of the Fashion
Show Mall. In 1996, the chapel was moved to its current location
on the corner of Russell Road and Las Vegas Boulevard South.
