Dam is only about 35 miles from Las Vegas Nevada making it
a popular day trip for tourists. There is a visitor center
with exhibits about the construction of the dam. The Hoover
Dam tour takes you on an elevator down into the inner-workings
of the dam. Their are plenty of scenic overlooks with views
of the dam and Lake Meade. Over 14.000 vehicles a day cross
Hoover Dam between Arizona and Nevada on US 93 each day. A
new bridge is now being constructed and will be located down
river from the dam. Hoover Dam is one of the great engineering
marvels of the modern world and well worth a trip

dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas on US Highway
93 at the Nevada-Arizona border . Visitor Center: Open
9:00 a.m. -- Close 6:00 p.m. Tickets sold until 5:15 p.m.

494-2517 Motorists wishing to cross Hoover Dam must pass through
an inspection checkpoint located either on U.S. Highway 93
one mile north of the dam in Nevada, or 9 miles south of
the dam
in Arizona. Pedestrians are prohibited from the top of the
dam during hours of darkness. |
