Nevada Day Trips Destination Guide to the Silver State

Gold Point Nevada a Living Ghost Town

Gold Point Nevada has gone from about bustling mining town to just a few residents these days. In its heyday in 1908, there were 225 tents and buildings and about 1,000 people. For years, gold and silver were mined from the nearby hills, but as the ore disappeared so did the people. To renew interest in the town, the camp was renamed Gold Point in 1930. The name change did little to change the luck of the town and the buildings slowly began to fade away. Thanks to the efforts of Sheriff Herb Robbins the towns buildings are now being restored so future generations can visit a real live Nevada ghost town. Gold Point is off the beaten path so plan ahead before you head out on your trip to the ghost town.
